During the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the health and safety of our team, and the groups and clients we work with, is a priority. Therefore, we have put in place measures to help limit the spread of Covid-19, in the hope that we can get back to our normal working practice as quickly as possible.

NAA offices

Following government advice on physical distancing and avoiding non-essential travel, the majority of our office-based staff are working remotely from home. We have maintained a skeleton staff of two people in the office, in separate areas, to deal with enquiries and work that cannot be undertaken from home. If you need to access the office for any reason, please email info@naaheritage.com to discuss and arrange this.

Fieldwork

We have a duty of care to all staff to ensure their safety at work. On the 10th of May the government announced the new ‘stay alert’ plan to continue to fight Covid-19 whilst attempting to begin to return to our normal ways of life. As part of this, the government has actively encouraged people in the construction industry to return to work. Over the last 8 weeks, we have been working hard to formulate a new set of RAMS and onsite working procedures that enable our staff to work safely and in adherence to latest government and industry advice. We are therefore beginning to resume our onsite activities where it is safe to do so. 

All fieldwork will be undertaken only where the risks to our staff, other site workers and the public are low and can be adequately controlled. Staff must feel comfortable and confident with undertaking the work and should not have any concerns that they are putting themselves or their families at risk.

Consultancy, planning-related work and fieldwork costs

We are still continuing to provide heritage consultancy advice, desk-based assessments, heritage statements, environmental impact assessments, written schemes of investigation (WSIs) and costs for archaeological fieldwork. We would welcome all opportunities to continue with these aspects of our work and to support clients with obtaining planning permission and progressing with condition discharge, so that they are well placed to move forward with schemes when this crisis is over.

Community outreach and social media

Whilst our forthcoming community and outreach projects and events have been unavoidably cancelled, we believe that sharing our work with our local community is a vital aspect of what we do. Therefore, we will continue to post updates and ‘throwbacks’ about our sites on social media and will look at ways to hold events online. Details will be published here when available.
