This complete vessel was found during our 1998 excavations at Hollow Banks, Scorton. It was found in a grave context. It is a complete Nene Valley colour-coated ware, funnel-necked beaker. It shows a painted white scroll decoration and dates to the Roman period, specifically the later 3rd to 4th century. Many fine ware vessels such as this were found throughout the excavation, indicating the site to be of high status during the Roman period.
