Today we’re toasting the much-anticipated publication of our new monograph: Contact, Concord and Conquest: Britons and Romans at Scotch Corner. Ribbed drinking cups, such as this example, may have been used during feasts. It has a frieze of leaves, possibly ivy leaves, running around the lower body. The amphora assemblage from Scotch Corner indicates that the upper echelons of society enjoyed  wine imported from Gaul and Italy.
